At Barinkoff Academy, there's only one rule: no students on campus after curfew. Phoenix McKay soon finds out why when she is left behind at sunset. A group calling themselves night students threaten to taste her flesh until she is saved by a mysterious, alluring boy. With his pale skin, dark eyes, and mesmerizing voice, Demitri is both irresistible and impenetrable. He warns her to stay away from his dangerous world of flesh eaters. Unfortunately, the gorgeous and playful Luka has other plans. When Phoenix is caught between her physical and her emotional attraction, she becomes the keeper of a deadly secret that will rock the foundations of an ancient civilization living beneath Barinkoff Academy. Phoenix doesn't realize until it is too late that the closer she gets to both Demitri and Luka the more she is plunging them all into a centuries old feud.

I wanted to read this book for so long but because of my review list I wasn’t able to get one, then a friend of mine has a copy and I get a chance to borrow it. Thank you so much Jas!

Anyway, this book is really great! The cover is one of my favorite it’s really awesome who ever designed it, it’s perfect! The title? That’s what I’m curious before, what’s with Taste? Seriously, what’s the first thing that comes in to your mind if you see the book? This book is full of excitement and it is thrilling, the first parts of it I really had so many questions that I’m glad it was answered before the story ends. BUT! The ending… I want more, (book two please?). I instantly fall in love with this book and to the characters omg! I can’t stop smiling while reading this and for the first time in my reading history, I have a hard time choosing between Demitri and Luka. And Phoenix? I salute her braveness!

Phoenix McKay has been struggling for 18months because of her mother’s death. Her father on the other hand becomes cold as stone, they didn’t talk for those 18months and she’s been shipped off to Barinkoff Academy. She’s smart, pretty, stubborn and a curious. Things in her life happened unexpectedly, and since then her life changed because Demitri one of the Night Students stepped in to her life. Demitri is a good guy who cares for other people first before himself. He is studying in Barinkoff Academy but the twist is he doesn’t belong to the morning class, he’s different from other people. He is smart and oh-so-handsome-man. Here comes Luka in the picture, he’s kind of different from Demitri but, he is irresistible too! He’s cool, funny and handsome man, a complete opposite of Demitri which is a serious type. But both of them are awesome in so many ways. So perfect. Both guys carries different problems, they hide secrets that nobody is allowed to know what.

Here is the catch, love triangle… Demitri likes Phoenix and Phoenix likes Demitri but then Luka likes Phoenix and Phoenix is attracted to Luka too, confusing right? Well, their story is really interesting and at the same time I felt pity for all of them. Their relationships are interesting and you will really want to read everything for it is exciting to find out who will win. I like Phoenix’ relationship with Demitri though since this guy is so serious, and he has this big load of responsibilities, it is hard to know if what will happen to them while here comes Luka, who is like a happy-go-lucky man but deep inside is really in love with Phoenix and he too has a big load of responsibilities. But I like how the world turns upside down between those three.

I might spoil you now, I just love this book so much from the cover to its content? It’s pretty awesome! I just hope there is a separate Demitri or Luka story and the book two comes out soon. I’m really curious on what will happen to the three of them and how’s Luka now? The ending is fun, but I want more from it. I more story from those two! They’re perfect. Another thing if possible is a separate Phoenix story there’s still more about her life that I want to know.

This book is beyond awesome! Science and Dystopian and YA? It’s really cool! I would love to know more and I just can’t put the book down, and yes I finished it in 2days, (supposed to be 1 day but then I have lots of work to do). It’s a must read! I’m sure everyone will love it, it is something different.

My Rating

When Kate Evangelista was told she had a knack for writing stories, she did the next best thing: entered medical school. After realizing she wasn't going to be the next Doogie Howser, M.D., Kate wandered into the Literature department of her university and never looked back. Today, she is in possession of a piece of paper that says to the world she owns a Literature degree. To make matters worse, she took Master's courses in creative writing. In the end, she realized to be a writer, none of what she had mattered. What really mattered? Writing. Plain and simple, honest to God, sitting in front of her computer, writing. Today she lives in the Philippines and writes full time.
