“Lilliah…Lilliah…listen to me! Just in case…,” he placed his hand over her mouth as she started to protest again, “I have left everything to you. Do you understand?” Lilliah shut her eyes tightly to hold back the tears. “If I don’t make it, get back to the city and find my lawyer, Joseph Horne. He knows all about me and what I am. I have arranged for you to have everything. He can tell you about it in detail.” Marek gave Lilliah’s shoulders a slight shake. She opened her eyes, looking at him with tearful sorrow. “Do you understand— Joseph Horne?” Lilliah gave a weak nod. Marek clasped her to him one last time, and then turned to go.
