THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE QUEEN

Nerissa Marin hides among teens in her human form, waiting for the day she can claim her birthright—the undersea kingdom stolen from her the day her father was murdered. Blending in is her best weapon—until her father's betrayer confronts Nerissa and challenges her to a battle to the death on Nerissa's upcoming birthday—the day she comes of age.

Amid danger and the heartbreak of her missing mother, falling for a human boy is the last thing Nerissa should do. But Lo Seavon breaches her defenses and somehow becomes the only person she can count on to help her desperate search for her mother, a prisoner of Nerissa's mortal enemy. Is Lo the linchpin that might win Nerissa back her crown? Or will this mortal boy become the weakness that destroys her?

I haven’t read something like this before so it’s unique for me. I thought it was a typical young adult book, I never thought it was something like this (that’s what happen when you don’t read Goodreads). Well, I’m not disappointed in fact I’m glad I did try something new, I just thought I’ll get upset because I was kind of lost in the story. I know something’s not normal but then I didn’t expect it to be that thing (I’m shocked like how Jenna reacted). The sequence of the story is not bad though I was able to catch up on what was happening I felt the excitement somewhere in the middle of the book or before that. The title of the book is catchy, so is the cover, I like how it’s made, that encourages me to make something similar using Photoshop.

The story is something that I didn’t think I’ll be able to read. It was really my first time reading this kind of book. It didn’t occur to me that this is something underwater and land adventure. I liked the construction of the story, the secrets and all those things. I like how the characters are described it is something that is really out of this world.

As for the characters, I totally adore Nerissa and Jenna’s friendship. They’re two different person yet they trusts each other so much like they’re known each other for so long. I like Nerissa, she’s cool and kind despite of her wrongs she tried her best to change everything. Jenna, I like her loyalty, I like how she trusted and save her friend. She’s so clever and a good adviser. Speio, he’s a very protective, brother like man who takes good care of Nerissa. He’s was just kinda stupid, doing something that he’ll regret. And lastly Lo, very mysterious man who fall in love with Nerissa. He’s the typical cool guy but very secretive and he likes teasing Nerissa for some reason. He’s a good surfer (that makes him cool) and he’s a gentleman.

All in all, I like the book. It’s not complicated and not too simple either. It’s fun to read.

Before I end this I want to thank the tour organizer jks communications, for allowing me to join the tour as in last minute registration and still I got accepted. Thank you so much for that. Thank you Samantha! And of course NetGalley for the copy of Waterfell.
